Colores by Eduardo Condes

Colors
Hispanic and Latino
I am Black
They refer to me as African black
I am dark from the Caribbean
They call me brown
I am White from Spain
They call me "high yellow"
Also, the color of an Indian,
burnt and toasted
The color of coffee with molasses,
and earth born of pure hot love and sweat,
that runs like a river of blood,
and cries with so much pain,
that jumps and dances without music
Only a glance and a smile is what it's worth,
at the end of it all
These Hispanic and Latino colors
These Colors of Humans
